Terms of use
Draft for the owners and their counsel to review before a wider launch. Last touched 2026-10-14.
The service
Three Openings is a web app for an old practice: opening the Gospels three times, at random, and sitting with the passages you receive. It offers a private journal of those sittings, an opt-in offer flow, and a small, human-curated public page of reflections. It is intended for adults; by using it you confirm you are 18 or older (a guardian's approval is required if a platform law in your country sets a different age).
Your content
You keep ownership of your reflections. When you offer a reflection, you grant the service a narrow license to display it on the public page if an editor selects it — nothing more: no advertising uses, no redistribution, no derivative works. You may withdraw an offer at any time before selection, and you may request removal of a published reflection at any time, for any reason; we honor that promptly and without argument. Deleting your account removes your work within thirty days, except as described on the Privacy page.
Not advice
Reflections on this site are personal writings, not counsel — spiritual, medical, or otherwise. Neither the passages drawn nor anything published on the public page is a prediction, a diagnosis, or advice. The practice is a prompt for reflection and prayer; it is not a substitute for the judgment of the reader or for any professional guidance they may need.
Conduct and moderation
The community rules apply to everything offered. Editors select what is published by hand; a decision not to publish an offer is not a judgment on it and is not appealable. We may remove content, strike accounts, or ban a user from offering when the rules are broken, without affecting their private use of their own book.
Liability and law
The service is provided as-is, with no guarantee of availability or permanence. In the event of a dispute, these terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA. A bereft note: this project is small, and it is funded by nobody in particular; please be patient with the lamps.
